After dropping off his urban-tinged mixtape project "Scenic Drive (The Tape) Pop/R&B hitmaker Khalid is back with a brand new single called " Satellite".
Check it out below.
So, If I'm being honest, "Satellite" by Khalid is kinda disappointing on a musical note. I find that I genuinely appreciate his R&B accented records a bit more because they seem a bit more genuine on a lyrical and sonic basis.
With that said, I'm really confused on what "Satellite" is actually about. It's as if he's comparing a satellite to a lover, but then speaks about seeing this particular person, place or thing in the sky and then uses a satellite as an analogy. It's an Synth-Pop affair, with again (must be something air today) an 80's pop tinged feel. One that feels a bit manufactured.
On a positive note, visually the music video is breathtaking and the direction is completely groundbreaking. One thing I do like about Khalid is his willingness to try fresh and unique ideas. From the freeforming dancing and trying his hands at choreography that he hits his marks with while adding a bit of his personality (a tad bit goofy/playful/childlike, which I relate to lol) into the flow of the dance is awesome and sets a standard for a different kind of artistic landscape. As a whole, the song and visual is like a beautiful, yet kind of generic and confusing bonfire.
Thoughts?
I would check out "Eleven" by Khalid as an underrated alternative of a highlight in his career.
