Alternative R&B Christian Artist Musumba is back! After dropping her last dual singles "Reels" & "Changes" last month, the UK native delivers a brand new track called "October".
The Satti Co-Produced track is a shot back at the people in the industry who tried to play down her worth, and how Musumba had to seek God through it.
On the first couple of listens, it was a bit of a hassle to really review because though it sounded good, I couldn't quite decipher what Musumba was saying to be honest (sometimes she be on her SZA type stuff lol.)
But listening to the track again, I hear an bewildered artist & believer going off on her experiences and the unfairness of it. The struggle to cope becomes clear in the song, as someone clearly close to the "Healing" singer is depicted as being overly critical and then showing fake love. It's a hauntingly dark production, but surely therapeutic. Musumba gives us her signature eclectic production style, trimmed with reverb and sporadic distortions.
I like the record. I think it's dope when an Christian artist is able to be vulnerable and speak their truth while honoring God. The clarity of the vocal production sometimes could be better, but technically it's no so indistinguishable that it's nothing a lyric video can't fix.
