Recently, Popstar and actress Selena Gomez released her first documentary "My Mind & Me" and the title track of it's soundtrack. And while the film has given many an introspective look on Gomez's life , it has also opened a can of worms in regards to her relationship with fellow actress and possibly former friend Francia Raisa.
Let's dive in.
The theme of her new documentary of the same name "My Mind & Me" is a beautiful cinematic pop ballad about Gomez's struggle with mental health. It relates the constant struggle of depression that people, and truthfully, I relate to quite heavily. I actually enjoy the laid back production around Selena's voice and shows just how beautiful her voice is. I definitely recommend the self-reflecting pop ballad, especially for anyone who just needs to know they aren't alone when it comes to mental health struggles.
Gomez also recently did an interview with Zane Lowe on the documentary and about her mental health.
All in all, I appreciated the sentiments of the interview. It does shed a different light on her life and the impact all of our mental health effects us.
However, in other news, there's some trouble brewing in the pot in regards to some of Gomez's personal relationships. Recently, Gomez did an interview with Rolling Stone in promotion of her new documentary in which she shared that she only considers Pop Superstar Taylor Swift as her only celebrity friend in the entertainment industry.
This undoubtedly caused a rift and upset expression from one of Gomez's longtime friends and Actress Francia Raisa, known for her roles in "Grownish" "The Secret Life of The American Teenager" & the newly running "How I Met Your Father".
Francia, who happens to have worked in the entertainment industry as an actress for over a decade, clearly felt her friendship betrayed as result of this. For those unaware, Francia was both Selena Gomez's friend but also her kidney donator, something that both Selena and Francia highly publicized. Most don't even know that Francia and Selena were friends long before that happened having met through the Disney Channel when they were younger.
They were even living together at one point!
Truthfully, If I'm honest, I think that Selena Gomez is being a bit dismissive and passive aggressive. Surely, if we're noting that this documentary takes place from before the time your current documentary is shot and this friend is a major friend in your life, why say that Taylor Swift is your only friend in the entire industry? Hell, I'm curious if Francia is the only one really upset. I'm sure Francia is also frustrated because unlike others who keep bringing up that she gave her a kidney, they were friends before that and I would say giving a friend an organ to save their life should prove to them to be a pretty damn good friend even if your friendship doesn't work out. I don't want to put emphasis on her kidney, because that's not necessarily the basis or should be the basis for their friendship, but it does seem as though Selena puts Taylor Swift on another echelon of friendship that she does not put others on. To be honest, i would have felt the same way as Francia, especially if I believed our friendship was in good standing and I worked in the entertainment buisness.
But what do you all think? Thoughts?
